Uster FiberQ is a complete solution for raw material utilization, supporting spinners to achieve consistent quality and profitability every day, building further growth for the future. The Turkish company ORTA relies on FiberQ with recycled yarn for its denim production. Data-driven knowledge puts the producer in control of raw material utilization – ready to make the correct decisions for process efficiency, quality and productivity.

Uster 360Q is a complete solution for optimized raw material utilization. It combines instruments, data-enabled software, and Uster textile expertise. The FiberQ raw material management system allows spinners to monitor warehouse inventories, giving enhanced transparency in stock management. This is possible because all data is collected on the same platform, giving a well-planned and better-balanced utilization of raw materials. This is the key to quality consistency and process stability throughout the production stages. At ITM 2026 in Istanbul, Türkiye, Uster experts will be on hand to offer insights and share practical experience with visitors.

Data-driven decisions for recycled yarns

As a global pioneer in denim, Orta Anadolu Ticaret ve Sanayi İşletmesi T.A.Ş. (ORTA) is well-equipped to meet the demands of the highly-competitive global textile markets. Sustainability is a key attribute of the company’s approach, with its use of regenerative cotton, organic cotton, recycled fibers, closed-loop manufacturing and water-reducing technology.

Facing challenging market conditions and determined to maintain sustainability and profitability, ORTA decided to adopt more controlled and data-driven decision-making processes.

“Our company identified the need to focus on data-driven knowledge to take control of its raw material utilization, and make the correct decisions for process efficiency, quality and productivity. The FiberQ system from Uster offers us a comprehensive system for fiber management from the start and throughout the mill processes,” says Orhan Herdem, Spinning Group Manager at ORTA. The fact that raw materials account for a large proportion of overall costs makes the Fiber Q investment an even more appealing prospect for improvement.

Systematic approach for quality consistency

Starting from the blend preparation and continuing through to regular monitoring of average blend quality values, all critical parameters can be effectively controlled. As a result, decision-making processes have become more measurable and predictable. “FiberQ introduces a significant systematic approach to the cotton blending preparation process and makes a substantial contribution to ensuring quality consistency,” says Herdem.

FiberQ has effectively influenced production for ORTA, as variations between consecutive blends are now effectively controlled, particularly in critical quality parameters such as micronaire and color. As a result, the risk of shade variation (barré) occurring in downstream processes has been significantly reduced. This is especially important with sensitive fabric constructions such as gabardine.

Quality improvement advantages already come with the entire cotton inventory, now incorporated in a systematic evaluation process, so that blend transitions are planned within defined quality limits. This approach has enabled more efficient stock utilization, while strengthening quality consistency and process stability throughout production.

Direct impact on business performance

ORTA saves time and waste with FiberQ because it prevents shade variation issues in the warping process, which previously required additional trial runs. With FiberQ, these quality fluctuations have been largely brought under control.

Generally, unnecessary trial processes have been reduced and waste rates have decreased. The overall process flow has become more stable. All these improvements result in enhanced production efficiency, while also helping cost control.

FiberQ supports ORTA in continuing to set global standards in the industry for high-performance, sustainable denim fabrics. It achieves quality consistency and process stability throughout production at the facility in Kayseri, Türkiye, where the firm today operates 66,000 spindles with a daily output of 55,000 kg.
