ADD-ITC 2026 publishes preliminary conference program

The organizers of the Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf International Textile Conference (ADD-ITC) 2026 have released the preliminary program for this year's event, which will take place on November 26–27, 2026, at the International Congress Center Dresden. The conference is expected to attract between 500 and 700 participants from industry, research, and academia.

The program features 18 plenary and keynote lectures, more than 48 technical presentations in three parallel sessions, and numerous poster contributions, providing an overview of current developments in textile technology and research. According to the organizers, more than two-thirds of the presentations will be delivered by industrial companies or jointly by industry and research institutions, underlining the conference's strong application-oriented focus.

Topics include protective and functional textiles, sustainable polymer materials, fiber-reinforced composites, digitalization and artificial intelligence, circular economy, technology transfer, and future developments in textile engineering.

Among the announced keynote speakers and contributing organizations are Teijin Aramid, Mehler Vario System, KARL MAYER, Dienes, evico, Batene, Université Laval, and DLR Braunschweig, together with representatives from research institutes, industry associations, start-ups, and universities.

The Call for Poster Abstracts remains open until August 15, 2026. Selected posters will be presented during dedicated flash sessions, and outstanding contributions will receive conference awards.

The conference will be held in German and English, supported by AI-based simultaneous translation via the conference platform.

Teaching Award for the Day Of The Faculty of mechanical science and engineering 2025

On June 28, 2025, almost 300 guests celebrated the Day of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the Boulevardtheater Dresden. At this year's ceremony, over 60 graduates from the Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering and Natural Materials Technology and Material Science degree programs were given a ceremonial send-off into professional life, 9 doctoral graduates were congratulated on the successful completion of their dissertations and prizes worth a total of 13,500 euros were awarded.

Reducing development times for technical textiles by accelerated thermo-oxidative aging in a high-pressure autoclave

Synthetic polymers used in technical textiles can be effectively protected against degradation caused by heat, oxygen, and water through the use of stabilizer systems. This enables service lives of several decades, extending to more than 50 years. As the use of durable technical textiles continues to grow, so does the demand for reliable methods to predict their service life within economically feasible testing periods. Airplanes and passenger trains must meet strict safety requirements, including fire safety standards. This calls for materials that are flame-retardant, lightweight, robust, and scalable. Empa researchers, in collaboration with their industry partner Elantas, have now succeeded for the first time in making such a material – a composite – fully recyclable.
