Focus on the entire process chain in nonwovens manufacturing

In an exclusive event with hand-picked customers from the nonwovens industry, Oerlikon Neumag and eight partner companies provided information on process innovations along the nonwovens value chain on July 2 and 3 of this year.

Open House with partners

Around 50 guests took advantage of the opportunity to attend numerous presentations and see various spunbond and meltblown technologies in action at the Neumünster Technology Center. In addition to the patented and (multiple) award-winning solution for producing charged meltblown nonwovens using water atomization, demonstrated using the example of a process with PLA, the spunbond processes for producing BiCo PET/CoPET and PP geotextiles were also presented.

Presentations along the process chain

Eight partner companies from all stages of the nonwovens manufacturing process made an indispensable contribution: Weko presented its solutions for spin finish applications. Dilo presented machine concepts and innovations in the field of needling technology. Brückner provided information on thermoprocessing lines for finishing nonwovens, while Mahlo focused on online measurement systems. Oerlikon Barmag provided an insight into its diverse range of pumps, which are also indispensable in the nonwoven process. In addition to the presentation on the Oerlikon Nonwoven Meltblown system, TotalEnergies Corbion contributed to the topic of sustainable raw materials with a presentation on Luminy® PLA.

Somatec rounded off the event with a presentation on the world of winding, and Comerio Ercole showcased innovations in the field of calender solutions. “A successful event here in Neumünster at our nonwovens competence center,” agreed Andreas Frisch and Ingo Mählmann, who are responsible for the business unit. The overall approach and the various process demonstrations in the technical center were well received. “We don't want to deliver isolated solutions, but rather solutions that are coordinated with our customers and the upstream and downstream process stages,” said Andreas Frisch, explaining the format. He added: “Experiencing the technology live and in color is extremely helpful for understanding our solutions.”

Barmag presents the next generation of POY production – energy-efficient and partial-automated

With POY 2.0, Barmag is introducing a completely redesigned spinning concept that takes the production of partially oriented yarn (POY) to a new level in terms of technology and economy. The solution, which was presented to a selected audience of experts for the first time at ITMA Asia + CITME 2025, was met with great enthusiasm: several yarn producers worldwide immediately expressed their interest in a pilot plant.

High-performance yarns for tomorrow's mobility

At this year's Techtextil in Frankfurt (April 21–24), Barmag will be presenting comprehensive solutions for the production of industrial filament yarns at the VDMA joint stand (Hall 12, C56). The focus will be on applications that ensure greater safety, durability, and efficiency in automotive engineering.

Monitor, adjust, perfect

FiberGuard BCF is the name of the new system for real-time monitoring of yarn tension in all Neumag BCF production processes. Barmag, the innovation and technology leader for filament spinning systems, presented this innovation of its Neumag product line at ITMA Asia + CITME in Singapore last November. The new BCF yarn tension sensor is compatible with all current Neumag BCF machines and can be easily retrofitted to existing Neumag BCF S8 machines.

Modernizing Needling – DiloGroup at Techtextil & INDEX 2026

With the theme “Modernizing Needling”, the DiloGroup presents a comprehensively enhanced portfolio for needling technology. The objective is to further increase the performance and application range of needlefelt production lines in terms of productivity, flexibility, and the development of new products, thereby meeting the growing demands of modern technical textiles.

LineONE – Smart performance, smart investment at Techtextil 2026

At Techtextil 2026 in Frankfurt (April 21–24, Hall 12, Booth C79), AUTEFA Solutions will present its LineONE concepts for cost-efficient nonwoven production. As a full-line supplier for nonwoven production lines, AUTEFA Solutions covers the entire process chain – from fibre opening through to web bonding. With its LineONE line concepts, the company combines proven technologies into well-balanced, cost-efficient turnkey solutions. These concepts are designed for capacity expansions, modernisation projects and new production lines, offering robust design and high flexibility for applications such as filtration, geotextiles and automotive.

ANDRITZ at Techtextil 2026: Sustainability and advanced technologies

International technology Group ANDRITZ will be presenting its innovative nonwovens production and textile solutions at Techtextil in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 21 to 24, 2026 (Hall 12, B95). ANDRITZ will focus on technologies for durable and technical nonwovens, sustainable fiber processes, textile recycling, and life-cycle services.

New study shows low environmental impact by Cotton made in Africa Organic Cotton from Tanzania

Today, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is announcing the results of a comprehensive life-cycle analysis (LCA) for cotton produced in Tanzania under the Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic) standard. The study emphasises the small ecological footprint of CmiA Organic verified cotton. This can largely be traced back to the absence of synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and artificial irrigation. Consequently, CmiA Organic cotton can help the textile industry meet regulatory requirements as well as science-based targets. The results also show that the consequences of climate change threaten the livelihoods of these cotton farmers, even though the type of agriculture they practise barely contributes to climate change.

PERFORMANCE DAYS proves its relevance as the industry’s key meeting point

Held on March 18–19, 2026, PERFORMANCE DAYS once again confirmed its position as a leading international platform for functional textiles. A total of 3.366 trade visitors and around 560 exhibitors gathered in Munich, with the event already kicking off successfully on DAY 0, which received highly positive feedback for its interactive format. Despite challenging conditions caused by the public transport strike in Munich, the event saw strong attendance and a consistently high level of activity across both exhibition days.
