Marvin Beyer Jr. elected as new Cotton Incorporated Chairman

Marvin Arthur Beyer Jr., a cotton grower from Taft, Texas, was elected Chairman of the Board of Cotton Incorporated at the Cotton Board and Cotton Incorporated joint meeting in December 2024. Beyer brings a distinguished and respected background and dedication to the Chairmanship, a two-year term that commences in 2025.

“Marvin embodies the commitment and vision that defines Cotton Incorporated,” notes Cotton Incorporated President and CEO William Kimbrell. “His extensive industry experience and forward-thinking leadership make him well-suited to help guide our organization as we encounter market challenges and opportunities.”

Beyer has served on Cotton Incorporated’s Board of Directors since 2007. Prior to becoming Chairman, he held the following roles: Vice Chairman (2023-2024); Secretary (2021-2022); and Treasurer (2019-2020); as well as serving on various other committees over the years. His experience positions him to guide the organization as it continues to enhance the value of cotton through strategic marketing, cutting-edge research, and global partnerships.

“I am honored to serve as Chairman of the Board for Cotton Incorporated,” said Beyer. “Cotton is more than a crop, it’s a cornerstone of livelihoods, innovation, and sustainability for communities across the country and the world. I look forward to working in this role to support cotton’s growth and advancement.”

Beyer has deep roots in agriculture that span multiple generations. With a degree in Agricultural Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1978, he partnered with his father and brother to establish the successful “Beyer Brothers” farm.

Beyer has served in leadership roles for the South Texas Cotton and Grain Association, San Patricio County Farm Bureau, Coastal Ag Coop, and Gulf Compress. Beyer’s leadership extends to national levels including his current role as Cooperative Delegate Member for the National Cotton Council and as a member of the Plains Cotton Cooperative Association Board of Directors.

In addition to his professional contributions, Beyer is an accomplished pilot, avid sports enthusiast, and devoted family man.

New study shows low environmental impact by Cotton made in Africa Organic Cotton from Tanzania

Today, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is announcing the results of a comprehensive life-cycle analysis (LCA) for cotton produced in Tanzania under the Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic) standard. The study emphasises the small ecological footprint of CmiA Organic verified cotton. This can largely be traced back to the absence of synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and artificial irrigation. Consequently, CmiA Organic cotton can help the textile industry meet regulatory requirements as well as science-based targets. The results also show that the consequences of climate change threaten the livelihoods of these cotton farmers, even though the type of agriculture they practise barely contributes to climate change.

Textile Exchange publishes cotton Life Cycle Assessment study to strengthen impact data

Textile Exchange has published the first in a series of seven Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies designed to improve the quality and robustness of environmental impact data for raw material production across the fashion, textile, and apparel industry. The first LCA study focuses on cotton and addresses critical data gaps and methodology variability through new high-quality data across key producing countries. The study includes organic, regenerative, recycled, and country averages for conventional cotton production systems, providing a clearer picture of the associated environmental impact.

PERFORMANCE DAYS proves its relevance as the industry’s key meeting point

Held on March 18–19, 2026, PERFORMANCE DAYS once again confirmed its position as a leading international platform for functional textiles. A total of 3.366 trade visitors and around 560 exhibitors gathered in Munich, with the event already kicking off successfully on DAY 0, which received highly positive feedback for its interactive format. Despite challenging conditions caused by the public transport strike in Munich, the event saw strong attendance and a consistently high level of activity across both exhibition days.

Reju™, the progressive textile-to-textile regeneration company, has been awarded €135 million in funding under the Netherlands’ Nationale Investeringsregeling Klimaatprojecten Industrie (NIKI) program. The funding will support Reju’s planned industrial-scale Regeneration Hub at Chemelot Industrial Park in Sittard-Geleen, covering both the investment phase and ongoing operations, and represents a critical milestone on the path toward final investment decision.
