IDEA®25 and FiltXPO™ 2025 Awards

Innovation has always been the heartbeat of the nonwovens and filtration industries. At the co-located IDEA®25 and FiltXPO™ 2025 exhibitions in Miami Beach, this spirit once again took center stage with the presentation of the prestigious IDEA® Achievement Awards and the FiltXPO™ Innovation Awards.

The ceremonies, held on April 29 and 30, honored companies whose technologies and products are not only shaping their respective markets, but also addressing global challenges such as sustainability, resource efficiency, and consumer well-being.

Recognizing Industry Excellence

Presented in collaboration with Nonwovens Industry magazine, the IDEA® Achievement Awards spanned six categories, ranging from equipment and raw materials to sustainability advancement. The FiltXPO™ Awards, organized in partnership with International Filtration News, celebrated breakthrough solutions in air/gas filtration, liquid filtration, and filtration equipment.

IDEA® Equipment Achievement Award – Dilo Systems GmbH

The Equipment Award went to Dilo Systems for its MicroPunch technology. Against the backdrop of rising energy costs and water scarcity, MicroPunch provides a consolidation method for lightweight nonwovens that reduces energy consumption by up to 75% compared with conventional techniques. The result: high-performance fabrics with significantly lower environmental impact and operating costs. For Dilo, already a leader in needle punching and line integration, MicroPunch represents a paradigm shift towards more sustainable production methods.

From European recovery to new growth horizons

After two turbulent years marked by sharp declines in production, the global nonwovens industry is regaining its footing and entering a new phase of growth. Driven by rising demand in filtration, battery technologies, hygiene components and sustainable construction, nonwovens are no longer just a supporting material, but a key enabler of critical transitions—from clean energy to healthcare and mobility.

The Global Nonwovens Alliance

With the announcement in April 2025 of the planned Global Nonwovens Alliance (GNA), the world’s two largest nonwovens associations, INDA (United States) and EDANA (Europe), are taking a significant step toward closer international cooperation. The new entity, to be in-corporated as a tax-exempt federation, is designed to provide the global nonwovens industry with something it has long lacked: a unified voice on cross-border issues and opportunities.

IDEA 2025 and FiltXPO

When the doors opened for IDEA 2025 in Miami Beach, the international nonwovens community once again confirmed the importance of this triennial event. Organized by INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, the show attracted a broad global audience of producers, suppliers, and converters.

Sustainability: European industry calls on EU to keep Single-Use Plastics Directive unchanged

A broad coalition of European industry associations, including EDANA, Euratex and Plastics Europe, has urged EU institutions to maintain the current legal framework of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). In a joint statement, the organisations argue that reopening the Directive at this stage would create legal uncertainty, increase regulatory complexity and undermine investment, while its implementation across the European Union is still incomplete.

EDANA announces five new board members following 2026 Annual General Meeting

The EDANA Board of Governors is elected or re-elected at the Annual General Meeting by the member companies. The Governors are senior executives (business leaders) from member companies, based in different countries and representing different sectors of the nonwovens industry. The Board has central responsibility for guiding EDANA's overall strategy and approving its policies and priorities. It meets three times a year.

Reju opens its first R&D Center in the U.S. in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania

Reju, the company specializing in textile regeneration, today announced the opening of a Research and Development (R&D) Center in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, the company's first proprietary research center in North America. Located within Technip Energies' existing Advanced Materials and Catalysts research center, the lab will allow Reju to accelerate the rollout of its recycling technologies and develop its next-generation circular solutions.

Itema reaffirms its commitment to the Syrian textile industry at NasTex 2026

From July 18th to 21st, Itema will exhibit at NasTex at the Damascus Fairground (Hall 11 – Stand C02), marking its return to one of the Middle East’s historically significant textile markets.
