Officina39 brings “Shades of Sunset” to Kingpins Amsterdam

The SS27 collection debuts with new creative concepts and cutting-edge technologies for responsible denim finishing

At the Winter edition of Kingpins Amsterdam (October 15–16, SugarFactory), Officina39 unveils Shades of Sunset, the new creative collection where color becomes a language for emotions. Inspired by the shifting hues of the sky at dusk, both on calm days and during dramatic storms, this interpretation of Spring–Summer 2027 embraces the imperfect beauty of nature and turns it into expressive, wearable storytelling. From serene and sun-washed gradients to intense contrasts and moody undertones, each piece reflects a unique “sunset state of mind.”

It’s not just about aesthetics: it’s a poetic interpretation of how nature, in its ever-changing forms, remains inherently perfect. In the collection, past and future blend seamlessly. The Y2K theme explores the comeback of early-2000s aesthetics with a modern approach: strong contrasts, vintage vibes, and a reimagined “dirty color” effect that adds character and attitude to every garment.

The collection also introduces Marvel Metal Laser, a new development within the Marvel Coating concept. This finish results from the synergy between laser technology, chemical knowhow and creative experimentation, transforming surfaces with metallic reflections and artistic dimension.

Once more, ZeroPP|ALL.IN stands out as a key innovation. This solution continues to evolve as a reliable and scalable alternative to Potassium Permanganate in denim finishing. Now applicable to sulphur black denim and dyed garments, it maintains a cost-neutral approach. Applied directly to raw garments, the simplified 3-step process (spray, laser marking, dry ozone) requires no rinse step, enabling a cleaner and faster workflow. The system is compatible with elastane fabrics, reduces reprocessing needs, and enhances consistency and final quality. This is not just a replacement – it represents the next generation of responsible garment finishing.

Alongside this, Marvel Color introduces two pigment-based innovations designed for creativity and efficiency. Pigment Acid Fade, powered by Novapret Acid Fade, creates a pronounced vintage acid-wash effect with only one enzymatic or stone-wash step, reducing energy consumption and eliminating hazardous chemicals. Laser Color, based on Novapret Laser Color, enables pigment fixation through laser while producing high-definition artistic effects with a soft hand feel.

Completing the offering, Smart Bright, Smart Black and Aqualess All-In-One confirm Officina39’s commitment to high-performance, low-impact solutions. These formulations enhance brightness, intensify black tones, and simplify the finishing process with minimal water use – empowering brands to combine creativity, performance and sustainability.

New study shows low environmental impact by Cotton made in Africa Organic Cotton from Tanzania

Today, the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is announcing the results of a comprehensive life-cycle analysis (LCA) for cotton produced in Tanzania under the Cotton made in Africa Organic (CmiA Organic) standard. The study emphasises the small ecological footprint of CmiA Organic verified cotton. This can largely be traced back to the absence of synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilisers, and artificial irrigation. Consequently, CmiA Organic cotton can help the textile industry meet regulatory requirements as well as science-based targets. The results also show that the consequences of climate change threaten the livelihoods of these cotton farmers, even though the type of agriculture they practise barely contributes to climate change.
