JEC Forum DACH 2023 winners announced

The composites actors of the DACH region are currently gathered in Salzburg for two days of an intense business meetings event during which every opportunity is good to network but also get to know the latest trends and developments in the local composites ecosystem. As part of this, two regional competitions: the AVK Innovation Awards and the JEC Composites Startup Booster. Discover here the awardees.

The AVK celebrating innovation

One aim of the AVK Innovation Awards is to support new products, components and applications made from fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) and to promote new processes and methods for the manufacture of FRP products with a specific focus on sustainable solutions.

Nine companies and projects were welcomed on stage and awarded for breaking new grounds in the field of composites:

Second place: “Fibre-Reinforced Salt as a Robust Lost Core Material” – Technical University of Munich, Chair of Carbon Composites and partners Apppex GmbH, Haas Metallguss GmbH

Third place: “VliesSMC – Recycled Carbon Fibres with a Second Life in the SMC Process” – Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. (STFI) and partner Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT)

JEC Startup Booster shining a light on entrepreneurship

Technologies, business models, applications… Industrial startups continually develop cutting-edge innovations raising the interest of manufacturers who wish to take a part in the markets of tomorrow, helping the startups to grow in the meantime.

Five finalists pitched today in front of our jury of experts of the composites industry, granting them and their project a considerable visibility among professionals of the sector across Europe. After deliberation of the jury in a closed room, the name of the winner was revealed and officially announced at the Awards Ceremony:

Launch of the first JEC Forum Middle East

JEC is proud to announce the signature of a strategic collaboration agreement with the OSP and IFC Promosalons, the representative of JEC in the region. The major agreement aims to organize a series of events dedicated to Composite Materials held in Saudi Arabia for the first time in the Middle East starting in June 2025. The events will facilitate the creation of opportunities for local and international companies and accelerate the adoption of sustainable materials across multiple industries in the region.

Under the unifying theme “Pushing the Limits,” the event showcased the extraordinary versatility and innovation of composite materials that continue to redefine lightweighting, performance, and design possibilities for an increasing number of applications.

JEC Composites Startup Booster 2025 winners

In just eight years, JEC Composites Startup Booster has established itself as a global reference for entrepreneurship in the composites industry in 2025. Over a hundred entrepreneurs, startups, and university spin-offs submitted their applications, with 20 selected as finalists. From March 4 to 6, these finalists have the opportunity to present their projects before an expert jury on the JEC World stage.

MEL Composites and Carrocerías Ayats collaborate on lightweight composite window frames

MEL Composites is proud to announce its ongoing collaboration with Spanish bus and coach manufacturer Carrocerías Ayats, showcasing the benefits of advanced composite technologies and scalable manufacturing processes originally developed for the sporting goods sector. The joint development of lightweight composite window frame covers demonstrates how MEL’s process innovation can be successfully transferred to the transportation industry to meet new regulatory and performance goals.

India ITME Society pushes trade & technology alliances in Singapore

India ITME Society hosted India Networking Program - Fabricating the Future of Textile Industry- From Heritage to High-Tech” on 29th October 2025 at Singapore an exclusive gathering of Ministry of Textile Officials, Embassy Officials, Entrepreneurs, Technocrats, Industry Organizations and Media Personnel's designed to foster collaboration, exchange ideas and explore opportunities in the Indian Textile & Textile Engineering Sector.

38th International Cotton Conference Bremen launches registration and unveils key topics

Innovation and customer proximity – KARL MAYER’s clear focus makes an impression

ITMA ASIA in Singapore was a resounding success for KARL MAYER, exceeding all expectations. The company welcomed visitors from 39 countries and held around 570 expert discussions. Most guests came from India, followed by China, Indonesia and Pakistan. The exchange with them was both well-founded and targeted. Conversation topics ranged from investment projects and new technologies to opportunities for cooperation and business expansion.
